DO-178B
Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics’ DO-178B “Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification” specifies a methodology and related verification methods for the design, implementation, and verification of avionics software. The DO-178 methodology and its Designated Engineering Representative (DER) auditors, while prescribing no particular process, rely heavily on documented processes, qualified tools, and document artifacts to satisfy DO-178B.
Generally, methodologies which are model-driven and tools specifically such as Artisan Studio enable engineering teams to construct workflows and to generate design and implementation artifacts. This assists an organization in demonstrating to its DER that their software artifacts satisfy DO-178B requirements for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Artisan supports the DO178B requirements category with Artisan Workbench for requirements management or Artisan Studio for requirements modeling in SysML
- The DO178B design category is supported with Artisan Studio allowing designers to create architectural and detailed designs of their software with industry standard notations
- The implementation category of DO178B is supported with Artisan Studio – Automatic Code Synchronizer to generate computer code from your designs and transfer it to the target computer
