Description
An Applications Engineer is responsible for pre and post-sales consulting support of Artisan Studio and associated products. Working closely with commercial sales personnel, this person’s role is to demonstrate product capabilities, features and benefits, and to help prospective users understand how it can be used in their development process. This aspect will be more than 50% of the role. You will be expected to be able to instruct customers in the use of Artisan’s tools for their technical application developments, interoperating with a wide range of tools supporting requirements management and configuration management. Delivering post-sales services, including training and mentoring to ensure that customers are successful in their use of Artisan products is an integral component of the AE role. Attending conferences and trade shows, writing and delivering papers, and supporting sales activities with demonstrations are all elements in the mix. The exact set of activities will depend on the capabilities of the applicant.
Travel is generally required to a set geographical area, specific to various seminars, new opportunity and customer visits, and the candidate should expect to travel up to ~50% of the time.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of experience with C/C++ and/or Ada (Ada-83 & Ada-95 ideally, Ada-05 desirable) including the specification, analysis, design, implementation, and testing of real-time software applications. You will be able to show a comprehensive understanding of the issues involved in moving from requirements to solution architectures and will be able to articulate this process to engineers in a team at a customer site, demonstrating your expertise through considerable project experience in a real-time domain. An understanding of structured analysis and design as well as object-oriented analysis, design, and implementation is preferred. Knowledge and experience of DODAF, UML 2.0, MDA and model driven design techniques, and an appreciation of the new SysML standard will be a strong advantage.
You should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Other technical degrees will be considered.
