OMG elects Chairman of Artisan Software Tools to its Board of Directors

Artisan® Software Tools has announced that its Chairman, Alan Stevens, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Object Management Group (OMG), the international, open membership, not-for-profit computer industry consortium for the 2008-2010 term.

OMG Task Forces develop enterprise integration standards for a wide range of technologies including: real-time, embedded and specialized systems, analysis & design, architecture-driven modernization and middleware for a wide range of industries including business modeling and integration, C4I, finance, government, healthcare, legal compliance, life sciences research, manufacturing technology, robotics, software-based communications and space. OMG’s modeling standards including the Unified Modeling Language (UML), Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Model Driven Architecture (MDA), enable powerful visual design, execution and maintenance of software and other processes, including IT systems modeling and business process management. OMG’s middleware standards and profiles are based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and support a wide variety of industries.

Alan Stevens’ biography
Alan has over 35 years experience in the application of information technology in the public and private sectors in roles ranging from systems engineering to sales and marketing, and senior management. He now runs his own company, Lorne Associates, through which he holds non-executive and advisory roles for high-tech companies including the chairmanship of Artisan Software Tools.
After graduating in aeronautical engineering from University of Southampton, Alan completed an engineering apprenticeship with British Aircraft Corporation (BAE Systems) and worked as a systems engineer on the Concorde supersonic airliner. He then moved into the IT world and worked at Redifon, EASAMS, EMI Medical, Scicon, SD-Scicon and EDS. Before retiring in 2001, he had been chief executive of EDS in the UK and held a range of senior positions in UK, Germany and USA.
Alan is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists where he is currently chairman of the Industry Committee. Additionally Alan is Board Member of the Object Management Group (OMG).
