Welcome,

Simulink Integration

The MathWorks Simulink and Artisan Studio have long been used side-by-side in the typical project lifecycle. Now Artisan Studio includes a comprehensive synchronization tool for Simulink that provides an integration enabling users to easily move between and synchronize information that is captured in both tools.

The most powerful part of the integration is with the SysML Parametric Diagrams. This allows the systems engineer to capture a System’s parametric constraints inside the System’s structural model and then expand on those constraints within Simulink. This allows engineers to work in a more object oriented manner with respect to system functionality increasing reuse of algorithms without losing any of the power of Simulink’s simulation technology. The synchronizer also provides an integration with the SysML Internal Block Diagrams to model data and material flow. This model can then be synchronized into Simulink where the system algorithms can be developed.

In many projects the Simulink model is used to capture the design of the system. It is from these requirements that the system is implemented. The synchronizer allows you to synchronize your Simulink model into Artisan Studio as requirements, providing a snapshot image of the Simulink model inside the requirement text. These requirements can then be used within Studio to show traceability both upstream and downstream.

The synchronizer also allows for easier integration between software developed in Simulink and Studio. The synchronizer allows the interface to the software generated from Simulink to be customized in Studio and synchronized back into Simulink. This greatly improves communication between the engineers in each tool who must ensure consistency between the code interfaces in order to successfully compile the separate source files into a working software solution.
