Model Migration & Conversion
Mergers, acquisitions, spinoffs, and cessations all reshape the vendors providing modeling tools to industry and over time tool vendors implement and delete features from their tools leaving an organization with their model Intellectual Property now locked into a discontinued tool or that an alternative tool might offer state of the art features sooner than a legacy product one currently used.
When this situation arises, an organization may want to migrate their models from one tool to another. While Artisan Studio offers an XMI 2.0 import/export capability, such an automated transformation may be insufficient. Difficulties with XMI migration include a lack of conformance to the XMI schema by one of the tools exchanging data; the lack of a diagram exchange capability which may require a refactoring of the legacy model so that poor modeling or some historical practices aren’t propagated into the new model in the new tool.
Artisan has experience with most of the UML and DSM modeling tools in use since the late 1980s and is available to assist your organization with the transfer of your requirements, models, and software from alternate tools into Artisan Studio.
