Product Customization
Artisan Studio is both non-intrusive and flexible, mandating neither a specific methodology nor a particular process. Recognizing the importance of a customer's existing process and other assets, Artisan has ensured a seamless and open integration with the user's tools of choice.
Artisan Software Tools can configure its products to meet the needs of an organization's internal process with custom consulting and customizations including:
Custom Features
Artisan Studio provides a powerful, documented, open API. The Studio API allows users to customize the exchange data with other tools as may be required by a customer's process, by building API interface utilities. Furthermore the API provides full read and write access to Studio's internal database, and can be used to both import data from upstream, and export data downstream within the customer process. Often utilities are built to do both, and can cope with new data as well as the propagation of changes to existing data - commonly called "synchronizers". The API itself can be called both from within Studio itself (scripted) and of course externally, providing access to Studio data independently of the Studio GUI. The API capabilities allow teams to build relationships and data exchanges with many tools needed to produce today’s complex systems of systems. Studio also includes many interfaces out of the box, for example synchronizers for DOORS and MathLab Simulink.
Other uses for the API include the production of documents, reports, XML, etc. The Studio API can be used directly from tools with VBA built in, without the need to purchase additional programming environments - which is useful for transferring data to and from Word, Excel, Access etc.
To ensure that Studio users are successful in leveraging the API, Artisan offers public training as well as professional services in using the API.
However, Studio's customization features are not limited to the API. Out of the box Studio supports many programming languages, word documents and excel spreadsheets, but all of these capabilities are customizable in their own right. Users can even customize the internal look, feel and behavior of the Studio GUI itself using Custom Profiles.
Custom Profiles
Artisan Studio allows teams to customize the look, feel and behavior of Studio to match their process. To enable teams to successfully make such changes Artisan provides training courses, professional services and online help. The user can add new diagram types, model item types, toolbar entries, consistency checks, reviewing tabs, context sensitive commands and context sensitive double-click behavior to their modeling experience. This allows organizations to ensure that each project can readily follow the company standards and it decreases the maintenance cost over the life time of the projects. Profiles are portable and can be updated and added to projects at the strategic points in the process in order to gain maximum benefit.
