Course Description

This three day course starts by giving you an introduction to the Unified Modeling Language (UML) which is used in the definition of the Ministry of Defence’s Architectural Framework, MODAF, and is one of the recommended notations to use when producing MODAF views. Day two defines key terms and concepts as embodied in the MODAF metamodel with an emphasis on realizing MODAF views using modeling. A battlespace scenario is used to examine example MODAF views and consideration is given to ensuring consistency between views through modeling. The course concludes on day three with a workshop session during which you gain experience in producing MODAF views.

Course Objectives

  • Provide an awareness of the UML modeling techniques needed for working with MODAF
  • Provide an awareness of the principles and concepts behind MODAF
  • Describe the structure and content of MODAF
  • Enable attendees to appreciate the issues surrounding the use of MODAF
  • Give attendees experience in producing MODAF views
